About Our Staff:

The Heartland Family Visitation Center staff is trained to monitor and appropriately intervene during visits. The program's primary concern is the safety and well being of everyone using the visitation center. Staff is required to participate in ongoing specialized training to supervise visits. The training prepares individuals to directly support children, residential, and non-residential parents in a safe and positive family visit. Thetraining is focused on understanding aspects of family violence, facilitating parent/child visits, child development, the philosophy and history of visitation centers, the importance of safety, objective note taking, the impact of substance abuse on visitation, legal and ethical concerns, and how to work with children who have witnessed domestic violence.


Cody
Kay
Kay joined the HFVC family in March 2006. She has an Associates Degree in Human Services and Paralegal Studies. She has stong family values as a mother of 3 sons and married to her husband Gary for over 20 years. She has a deep passion for helping children who are suffering from any type of abuse or neglect. Her goal is to help build strong and happy families. Kay is a Visitation Monitor.
Adam
Maritza
Maritza was born in the Republic of Panama, where she resided for most of her life. She worked at the schools there when she was offered the opportunity to travel to the United States in 1997. Here, she continued working with the school system at Grand Island Public Schools. Martiza also gave of herself and her time working at Saint Francis. Presently Maritza works at the Grand Island Clinic and the Heartland Family Visitation Center. Additionally, Maritza assists in the community as a Minister and Pastor's wife at the Church of God of Prophecy for 25+ years. She also works in the church as a Sunday School Teacher, a Women's Group Leader, and a Worship Leader. Maritza enjoys her family circle, which she shares with her husband of 31 years George, her son Jorge, her dugher Jennifer, and son-in-law Kern. Maritza is both a Visitation Monitor and a Spanish Interpreter.

Sharon

Sharon was born in the beautiful Caribbean Islands of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. In 1977 Sharon decided to move to the United States. She worked for Grand Island Accessories, INC. for 20+ years. She colunteered over 150 hours at Central Community College, by tutoring English as a Second Language to students from various nationalities. At the Church of God of Prophecy, Sharon is the Church Cleark and a Sunday School Teacher. Sharon continues imparting her lending hand to families at the HFVC. Sharon is a Visitation Monitor.
