Family Visitation Center The Heartland Family Visitation Center is the result of
a community wide collaboration initiated in 2003 when the City of Grand
Island and The Crisis Center, Inc. were awarded a two year planning grant
from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office on violence Against Women,
Safe Havens Supervised Visitation and Safe Exchange Center grant program.
A community Based Consulting Committee was formed. Members of the committee
include representatives from The City of Grand Island, Grand Island Police
Department, NE Department of Health and Human Services, Central Nebraska
Child Advocacy Center, Heartland CASA, The Crisis Center, Inc., the legal
and mental health communities in April 2004, a Project Director, was hired
to coordinate the planning process. The heartland Family Visitation Center
began proving service to area families in May 2006
